Cambridge General English

Improve your English skills in a vibrant and international environment while living in the great city of Vancouver with a Canadian family. CET Vancouver offers small, friendly classes for all levels, from Beginner to Advanced, where patient and experienced teachers help you to reach your language potential. Lessons are created to reflect each students’ needs and are based on the University of Cambridge English Exam programme.

Morning Programs

(Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.)

Morning Programs
Beginner Low 2 months You will learn and grow confident using every day English. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to talk about yourself, your family, daily routines, along with giving and expressing opinions in a variety of common settings.
High 2 months You will build and expand your vocabulary so that you will be able to describe past, present and future events in greater detail. You will learn how to give opinions about past and present experineces. You also will learn about expressing future plans.
Intermediate Pre-Intermediate 2 months This is a course designed for students wishing to improve their communicative ability in English in all four corea areas; speaking, listening, reading and writing. At this level, you have mastered most of the basic grammar points but still have difficulty expressing your thoughts and feelings clearly.
Intermediate 2 months You will learn to deal with most situations as a tourist in an English speaking country. You will be able to take part and lead factual conversations in a work environment and be able to write letters and notes on familiar topics. Upon completion of the course, you will be well prepared to take the Preliminary English Test (PET).
Upper Intermediate 3 months You will gain exposure to texts from a wide variety of sources and be able to talk with native English speakers on a wide variety of topics. You will feel comfortable understanding English spoken on radio and television programs. Upon completion of the course, you will be well prepared to take the First Certificate in English Test (FCE).
Advanced 3 months Students will develop the skills for working, studying and living in an English-speaking environment. Upon completion of the course, students will be well prepared to take the Certificate in Advanced English Test (CAE).
Proficiency 3 months You will learn how to express yourselves precisely and fluently. You will be able to talk about complex and sensitive issues without awkwardness. Upon completion of this course, you will be well prepared to take the Certificate of Proficiency in English Test (CPE).

Beginner Communications 1-2 Low This course is designed to complement the morning courses that Beginner students take. It is designed as a communications class that touches on the four core areas of English; speaking, listening, reading and writing. It offers expanded vocabulary building, a wider exposure to different accents in the listening section along with a greater chance for students to put their speaking skills into practice.
Communications 3-4 High
Pre-Intermediate
/Intermediate		 Communications 5-7 This course is designed to complement the morning courses that Intermediate students take. It is designed as a communications class that touches on the four core areas of English; speaking, listening, reading and writing. It offers expanded vocabulary building, a wider exposer to different accents in the listening section along with a greater chance for students to put their speaking skills into practice. Timed readings are also completed to help students with their reading speed and comprehension. In giving a presentation at the end of the month, students have the chance to grow confident speaking in front of others.
Upper Intermediate /Advanced Communications 8-10 This course is designed to complement the morning courses that Upper Intermediate and Advanced students take. As a communications class, it touches on the four core areas of English; speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will develop their fluency and critical speaking skills through discussions, presentations and debates. It offers a vocabulary expansion section focusing on phrasal verbs, a wider exposer to different accents in the listening section along with a greater chance for students to put their speaking skills into practice. Timed readings are also completed to help students improve their reading speed and comprehension.
Intermediate and above Cambridge Business English
3 Month Course		 The Cambridge Business English course is designed as a hands-on approach to improving your business skills. It is designed to improve your English by creating products, commercials and giving presentations. The course offers the chance for students to use their English in a real world business setting.
Beginner Elementary Business English
2 Month Course		 The Elementary Business English course is designed for High Beginners looking to improve their English business language. It offers the chance for students to expand their vocabulary and build the fundamentals for business English. Students will get a review of basic grammar forms and by studying Case Studies, they will have the chance to utilize their English.
